In Pursuit With John Walsh is on the hunt for suspected murderer Larry Hicks who is accused of killing Monique Yanulavich in July 2022 in Plattsburgh, New York.
On July 14, 2022, officers from the New York State Police conducted a welfare check on the home of 45-year-old Monique but couldn’t locate her. A few hours later, the cops found her in the trunk of her car at the parking lot of Champlain National Bank in Plattsburgh.
An autopsy ruled that Monique had been stabbed multiple times. An investigation involving multiple agencies, from the FBI and the Plattsburgh PD to the Forest Rangers and even the Dept. of Environmental Conservation, concluded that the prime suspect is 47-year-old Larry M. Hicks Jr., originally from Tabor, North Carolina.
Unfortunately, Hicks is still on the lam. The NY State Police believe that after the murder, he fled New York, traveling to North Carolina on a 2015 Honda Goldwing Motorcycle.
The following day, Hicks was spotted on a surveillance camera in South Carolina.
He then reemerged a week later when he was sighted in Corpus Christi, Texas, boarding a bus for Brownsville, TX, on the Mexican border. There’s been no sign of him since then.
Larry Hicks already served time for strangling sister-in-law
Hicks was previously convicted of causing the death of his sister-in-law Kimberly Michelle Jacobs Suggs on March 8, 2001, in South Carolina. The pair reportedly got into an argument, and he strangled her to death.
Watch the Latest on our YouTube ChannelAt the time, Hicks pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and was sentenced to five years behind bars.
Hicks is a white male, 6’7” in height, weighs approximately 300 pounds, and has blue eyes and brown and gray hair.
The NY State Police have stressed that Monique and her family “deserve justice” and have asked anyone with any information about the whereabouts of Hicks to please contact them at 518-563-3761.

In Pursuit With John Walsh is also looking into the case of Steven Leifeste, a suspected child sex offender who had been on the run in Texas since February 2021.
Leifeste violated his parole and was wanted on a string of charges, including two counts of child sexual assault and evading arrest.
Thankfully, Leifeste was apprehended in Moore, Texas, in January 2024.
